I believe stories are the single most important element of our day-to-day existence in this strange-beautiful journey through life.
We cast ourselves the hero before the big meeting. We brush away pre-date nervousness with a memory of that awkward character who came out on top. We summon our grandparents’ stories of war and hardship to assure ourselves that we too will survive in a fluid and insecure time.
Stories exist in the now, but contain past, present, and future; backstory, conflict, and resolution. They allow us, in the moment, to access a comprehensible version of this life that we may not have, but need in order to move forward.
I am fascinated by the evolution of story as driven by the ways we now communicate. Hemingway’s six words. Twitter’s 140 characters. Does a picture add another thousand words? What about a gif?
No matter the venue, communication in narrative form creates the bricks with which we build the walls that define us to ourselves and to others. And that’s what I am about.
As a creative I write, direct, edit and energize creative teams in the undertaking of storytelling with purpose.
